Dear
As we are coming to the end of term you may have new questions regarding your
accommodation. Please check below for frequently asked questions during the
month of December.

What happens with my
accommodation over the Christmas Holidays?
If you intend to return home or go away to
spend time with your loved ones for a long period over Christmas, please
notify your Residence Office but keep
your keys with you. If you return your keys to your Residence Office your
contract will be terminated and your room will be offered to another
student. Please read through some advice
from the Residences Team regarding your accommodation over the holidays.
The University will be closed from Friday 23
December – Tuesday 3 January 2017, if you intend on vacating
near this time please ensure you hand in your room keys in by 10am
Thursday 22 December 2016.
If you decide to leave during the closure period your keys will need to
be posted through the Residences Office letterbox in an envelope collected
in advance from the Residences Office, clearly marked with your name,
student number and room/flat/hall and you will be charged for the nights until we
reopen on 3 January 2017.
All term time contracts are inclusive of the Christmas and Easter holidays,
therefore rent prices reflect this regardless of whether the room is
occupied during these times.

I am moving out, will I get a refund of any rent?
Once you hand your keys back to your Residence Office the Accommodation
Services will be in contact with you via email with a breakdown of your
charges and any amount outstanding on your account. If you are due a refund
you will be able to submit a refund request online once you have vacated your
room. Students are charged a £350 (£450 for
studio flats) break of contract charge and for the number of nights the
room is held until the keys are returned to the Residence Office if vacated
before the following dates:
|
Undergraduate, Language
and PGCert length contracts: Before 10am 20 February 2017
Postgraduate/Research
length contracts: Before
10am 3 July 2017
|
After this date students are charged until the end of their
contract. Any payments that you make such as your
booking fee or rental payments will be off-set against these charges.
