Dear 1st December

As we are coming to the end of term you will likely have new questions regarding your accommodation. Please check below for frequently asked questions during the month of December. We wish you happy holidays and a well-earned break after a successful first term.

Frequently Asked Questions More Information
What happens with my accommodation over the Christmas Holidays?
All term time contracts are inclusive of the Christmas and Easter holidays, therefore all students with term time contracts will be liable to pay rent during these periods even if they do not occupy their rooms during this time.

If you are going away for a long period of time please notify your Residence Office, but if you intend to return to your room, keep your keys with you. If you return your keys to your Residence Office your contract will be terminated and your room will be offered to another student.
Can I move out of my room before the end of my contract and what will I be charged?'
I'm moving out; will I get a refund of any rent?
If you have a term time contract then you will have agreed to a contract for the full period of your academic year. However, we understand this may cause some hardship for some students and therefore if a student wishes to terminate their term time Licence Agreement early, the University operates the following procedure.

Before 10am 22 February 2016 for undergraduate, language and PGCert length contracts and before 10am 4 July 2016 for postgraduate/research length contracts: the student is charged a £350 break of contract (£450 for studio flats) and for the number of nights in accommodation until the keys are returned to the Residences Office. Any payments that you make such as your deposit/booking fee or rental payments will be off-set against these charges.

Once you have vacated Accommodation Services will be in contact with you by email to confirm any overpayment/outstanding amounts.
When do I need to apply for next session?
The Accommodation Services would like to remind all students that applications for next session 2016/17 accommodation and information regarding deadlines will be released within the next couple of weeks. Please make sure you do apply and pay your booking fee within enough time and do not leave it to the last minute. How do I apply for a room next year?’ and ‘Can I apply to live with my friend(s) or family member in a group on campus?’.
I'm still on holiday when the 2nd rent instalment is due. How can I pay it?
There are several options available to make payment of your rent, booking fee, fines etc. Accommodation fees can be paid by cash, credit/debit card, bank transfer or online. Please visit www.brunel.ac.uk/courses/paying-your-fees to pay online or visit or call the cash office on (+44) 01895 265264. For bank transfer information please check Brunel Bank Account Details.
