Accommodation Services Advisor

What’s your role and how long have you worked in Accommodation Services? I am an Accommodation Services Advisor. I joined on the 21 May 2008. The same day Man Utd beat Chelsea in the Champions League final (good day for me, bad day for John Terry).
What do you find the most challenging thing in your job? Being the only male in the office. People assume I love it, I’m unsure why, but that’s only true 80% of the time.
What is your favourite part about working at Brunel? The social life. I’ve been on great holidays with friends I’ve made here. I’m going to the weddings of several staff, including being an usher at one. I feel I have made some friends for life by joining this wonderful University.
If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? Suntan lotion as I burn easily. A Bloody Mary so it feels like a holiday. A boat because I’m clever.
What book did you read last? Inventing the Pyramid. It sounds like it’s about ancient Egypt but it’s actually about the history of football tactics.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? An all you can eat buffet so I get a choice of everything.
What is your favourite hall of residence and why? Chepstow Hall. Standard halls are the most reasonably priced accommodation. The £30 you’ll save a week can go on much better things such as food from the excellent Brunel market on a Tuesday, drinks at the Student Union bar or Lancaster Hotel and, best of all, PS4 games. They are very sociable halls as you’ll be coming in and out of your bedroom more often. It has the added advantage of having the bathroom/toilet cleaned for you, which doesn’t happen in the en suite rooms. It also has a lovely view of the River Pinn in the most scenic area of the campus.
